Pastor Ben's Bio
Testimony: I was richly blessed to be raised in a Christian home. I am the youngest of three boys and grew up attending church 3x per week with my parents. I possessed a surface knowledge of the bible from an early age, and managed to live an outwardly moral life through my teenage years. When I was in college I encountered a book entitled, "Are you really born again?" The little book caused me to rethink my "Christianity", and through a personal study of the New Testament, I came to understand what it truly means to be a believer and follower of Jesus. I am 100% convinced that I was truly saved in the bedroom of my apartment when I was 19 years old, in spite of the fact that I had already been baptized 3x previously (ages 6, 9 & 18). The primary goal of my life (which I sometimes lose sight of) is to help other people come to know the Lord, and experience what the bible refers to as a "new birth."
Best Friend: My wife, Jennifer, who has been God's greatest blessing in my life since we married in January of 2005.
Favorite Song: Amazing Grace
Favorite Food: Biscuits n' Gravy, Bacon/egg/cheese Biscuit, sausage/egg Biscuit, & any other kind of Biscuit!
Favorite Drink: Mountain Dew, Dunkin' Donuts Sweet Tea, and Water (only when I'm on a diet, which is every Monday :)
Favorite Hobbies: Coaching my boys' baseball and basketball teams
Favorite TV show/movie: 48 hours, Dateline, and 20/20 (real life crime stories).
Favorite Bible Story: Baby Moses in the River (the story magnifies God's sovereignty and goodness)
Favorite Bible Verse: Psalm 32:1-2
Favorite thing about being a pastor: Using the Bible to give hope to people who do not have a lot of hope in their life.
Least favorite thing about being a pastor: Reading a bible verse on Monday morning that would have been perfect in the Sunday sermon.
Education: B.S. Secondary Mathematics Education (Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs, GA), M.Div (Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C.), Ph.D. (Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C.)
